Practice doesn't have to be expensive.  It doesn't even require you to leave your home or garage.  One economical way of keeping your swing up through the off season, or when life gets too busy to make it to the range consistently, is to invest in some home equipment.  A simple golf mat and set of practice balls can go a long way.  If you are industrious enough and have the space, rigging up some netting to hit into can be great for evaluating where you are hitting the ball.

Another final benefit to practicing at home is the ability to work on your individual swing with less distraction.  Photographing yourself can be helpful in pinpointing areas for improvement in your stance.
